Prof. Dr. Natseva serves as a Full Professor (Profesor Titular B) of Psychology and Education at Universidad Azteca in Mexico and as a Professor of Practice at Dunster Business School in Switzerland. Alongside her academic work, she is the Founder and CEO of Happy Life Academy®, Founder of DCS® Academy and Happy Life Institute, and President of the International Association of Professional Therapists and Coaches (IAPTC®).

Research and Scientific Contributions

A central focus of Natseva’s research is the relationship between autobiographical experience and identity.

She developed the Internal Autobiographical Map (IAM), a conceptual framework designed to examine how significant experiences, emotional encoding, meaning attribution, belief formation, and identity consolidation may be interconnected within the development of identity.

Her empirical work applies psychometric methods and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine these proposed relationships. Initial findings provide empirical support for the IAM framework while also recognizing the need for further longitudinal, cross-cultural, and independent validation.

Natseva is also the creator of Direct Change Solution® (DCS®), a structured methodology developed for work with identity, beliefs, behavioural patterns, and personal transformation. The approach is used within educational and professional-development settings and forms part of her broader work on the mechanisms involved in psychological and behavioural change.

Her research interests span autobiographical memory, identity formation, resilience, emotional regulation, behavioural patterns, leadership, education, and organizational development.

Her scientific and academic work includes publications and research addressing topics such as the neuropsychology of gratitude and positive emotion, autobiographical memory and adaptation, visual mapping of life narratives, autobiographical processes and resilience, attachment styles and coping strategies, emotional regulation in psychotherapeutic practice, founder-led leadership in online education, and structural approaches to understanding repetitive behavioural patterns.

Through this body of work, Natseva aims to contribute to a more integrated understanding of how experience, emotion, meaning, beliefs, and identity interact across personal and professional contexts.

Building an International Educational Ecosystem

In 2019, Natseva founded Happy Life Academy®, which has since developed into an international educational platform providing programs in psychology, coaching, leadership, business, personal development, and transformational education.

According to institutional data, more than 100,000 participants have taken part in its educational activities, with learners and professionals reached across more than 50 countries.

The Academy’s educational ecosystem includes professional qualification programs, advanced training, mentoring, business and leadership education, coaching programs, and specialized approaches based on Natseva’s research and methodology.

Her work in education reflects a broader objective: to connect psychological knowledge with structured learning experiences that people can apply to their personal development, professional practice, leadership, and decision-making.

International Association of Professional Therapists and Coaches

Natseva is also the Founder and President of the International Association of Professional Therapists and Coaches (IAPTC®).

The organization works within the professional education and development sector, supporting standards, professional recognition, and certification for practitioners in coaching and related fields.

Through IAPTC®, Natseva has expanded her work beyond individual education toward the development of professional communities and standards for practitioners working internationally.

1 Million Awakened Foundation

Natseva is the Founder and President of the 1 Million Awakened Foundation, an initiative created around education, human potential, conscious personal development, community engagement, and positive social impact.

Its long-term mission is to encourage one million people to develop their potential and translate personal growth into meaningful contributions to their families, organizations, communities, and society.

The initiative represents the social-impact dimension of Natseva’s broader work, connecting individual development with collective responsibility.

From Banking Leadership to Psychology and Education

Natseva’s professional journey did not begin in psychology or personal development.

Before establishing her educational organizations, she built a long-term career in banking and management, including senior responsibilities in trade finance and business operations.

That professional background became an important part of her later approach to leadership, decision-making, organizational psychology, and business education.

Rather than treating personal transformation and professional performance as separate areas, her work increasingly focused on the relationship between the two: how identity, beliefs, emotional processes, and self-perception can influence leadership, decisions, behaviour, and long-term development.

Her transition from banking leadership to psychology, research, education, and entrepreneurship eventually led to the establishment of Happy Life Academy and the development of her own theoretical and educational frameworks.

Books and Public Education

Alongside her academic and institutional work, Natseva has built an extensive body of public-facing educational content.

She has authored more than 20 books exploring themes including self-awareness, gratitude, relationships, leadership, personal transformation, identity, emotional development, and human potential.

Her work as an author forms part of a broader effort to make psychological ideas understandable outside strictly academic environments while maintaining an increasing focus on empirical research and methodological development.

Through books, educational programs, lectures, digital platforms, and international appearances, she has developed an audience extending beyond Bulgaria and into international markets.

International Recognition

Natseva’s work in education, entrepreneurship, writing, and leadership has received numerous professional and international recognitions.

Her distinctions include awards connected with education, business leadership, authorship, entrepreneurship, and humanitarian impact. She has also appeared in Bulgarian and international media discussing her work, research, educational initiatives, and professional journey.

She has been featured on multiple Forbes Bulgaria covers and has participated in international forums, conferences, and leadership events.

Her record-related recognitions include an officially recognized Guinness World Records achievement as well as additional recognitions from World Book of Records – London, Europe Edition. These distinctions form part of a broader portfolio of international recognition for her educational and professional activities.

A Research-Led Direction for the Future

The next stage of Natseva’s work increasingly centers on research.

Her current academic direction focuses on developing and empirically examining models related to identity, autobiographical memory, emotional processing, behavioural patterns, resilience, leadership, and human potential.

The Internal Autobiographical Map represents an important part of this direction. Rather than positioning identity as a fixed psychological characteristic, the framework examines it as a structure associated with significant experiences, emotional encoding, personal meaning, beliefs, and the consolidation of the self.

Early empirical work provides support for the proposed relationships while also identifying the need for further research across different populations, cultures, and research designs.

This distinction is central to Natseva’s approach: theoretical innovation should be accompanied by empirical examination, replication, and continued refinement.

Her work therefore increasingly brings together three areas that have shaped her professional journey — psychology, education, and leadership — within a research agenda focused on understanding how people construct identity and how that identity relates to behaviour and development.

For Natseva, transformation is not simply a motivational idea. It is a psychological process that can be studied, measured, questioned, and progressively understood.

As she explains:

“Through every obstacle, I learned resilience, compassion, and the strength to rise again. Today, those experiences allow me to understand transformation not only as a personal journey, but as a process worthy of deeper study.”

From banking and organizational leadership to psychology, research, authorship, and international education, Prof. Dr. Stoyana Natseva’s career reflects an evolving inquiry into one central question: how do human beings construct who they are — and what makes meaningful change possible?
